Fullstack Engineer

Ship features in a production Laravel 13 + Next.js 16 codebase — with code review from a VP of Front-End Engineering.

5–8 hrs/week, 3-month season, async-first.
The work

Real features on a real roadmap: client-facing project views, billing flows, real-time updates (Reverb/Echo), AI-assisted actions powered by Claude. The codebase is a documented monorepo with conventions, a security posture, and a written body of architectural decisions — you're joining an engineered system, not a pile of prototypes.

What you get
  • A production SaaS codebase on your portfolio that you can walk an interviewer through, feature by feature.
  • Consistent, serious code review and mentorship — the kind that levels people up faster than a year of solo projects.
  • Public credit on the launch, a detailed LinkedIn recommendation, lifetime top-tier access, and first claim on the first paid engineering role.
  • A small equity grant with a cliff is on the table for sustained contribution — discussed in the first call, written down before work starts.
You’re probably right for this if

You're a mid-level engineer who wants senior-shaped scars: PHP/Laravel or React/Next.js (ideally curious about both), comfortable reading existing code before writing new code, and you finish things.

Every role also includes

  • A defined season, not an open tab on your life: 5–8 hours a week for 3 months, then we both re-evaluate honestly.
  • Your name on what ships — public credit on the site and launch material, plus a detailed LinkedIn recommendation from the founder (a VP of Front-End Engineering by day).
  • Lifetime access to Progense's top tier for you or your own projects, from launch day.
  • First right to a paid role: when revenue or funding arrives, the people who built this are hired first, at market rate, with their volunteer months counted.

Apply

No CV gymnastics — a few honest sentences is plenty. We read every one.

Thanks for applying to build with us. Before you submit, here's what we both agree to:

  • This is an application, not an offer. Submitting doesn't guarantee a role, a response timeline, or any obligation on Progense beyond reviewing your application in good faith.
  • No employment relationship. Applying — and any conversations that follow — does not create an employment, agency, or partnership relationship. If we work together, the terms will be set out in a separate written contributor agreement that we both sign before any work begins.
  • Compensation. Contributor roles at this stage are unpaid. Any equity, future paid role, or other benefit is only valid once it's in that signed written agreement — nothing discussed before then, in any channel, is a commitment by either side.
  • Your ideas and ours. If you include ideas, portfolio pieces, or suggestions in your application, you keep ownership of them. Equally, anything we share with you about Progense — product plans, designs, unreleased features — is confidential, and you agree not to share or use it outside this process.
  • Your information. We use your name, email, and application details solely to evaluate your application, respond to you, and — if you choose — keep you informed about Progense early access. We never sell your information. You can ask us to delete your application data at any time.
  • Honesty. You confirm the information in your application is accurate and the work you link to is yours (or your part in it is fairly described).

By submitting this application, you agree to the Contributor Application Agreement above and our Privacy Policy, and consent to Progense processing your application for recruiting purposes.
